Pinetop 2011

We did our annual family trip to Pinetop, AZ for the Run to the Pines Car Show! This year Kaylynn and Justin rode with HotRod in the truck during the car parade. They love it because they get to throw candy out the window to all the kids watching the parade. They even saved some candy to throw to Hanna as they got back to the condo!

Kaylynn standing by the car she liked best.

Hanna standing by a yellow truck. She loved all the trucks at the show. Must be her mother's child for sure!

This was Justin's favorite car.

Hanna walking with Dad checking out all the cool trucks and cars. The kids usually last a couple of hours at the car show and then they get bored and want to go for a hike. So we left HotRod and Dad to their car business and took off to have some other fun.

This year the kids wanted to make pine cone bird feeders.

First we went on a hike to find the perfect pine cones. They must have picked up forty or more. I kept throwing the bad ones over my shoulder to keep the stock pile to a reasonable size.

We used a full jar of peanut butter and half a bag of seeds.

Here are some of them hanging from the tree outside the balcony of the condo.

This one we hung on the balcony so we could get a close look at the birds. We had Bluejays, Woodpeckers, Finches, Robins, Magpies and then we had the squirrels. The squirrels were the funniest. They would tug and tug until the string broke and then they would take off with the whole pine cone! The kids thought it was hilarious! Good thing we made sooo many.

Then they wanted to go for another hike.

Kaylynn during our snack break on our hike. I love it when I can actually get a normal cute picture of her. She is getting to be such a big girl. Yikes!

All three crazy kids sitting on one rock all looking at the camera. It's a miracle!! ;)

Of course we had to sit on every large log along the trail. Justin was the leader of the pack. He said he had to be the leader because he was the only boy and because he had a big stick!

Justin posing for a "real" picture. His words not mine. He sure is handsome though.

After all the hikes, we ended up at the playground that is part of the condo. Lots of sliding, swinging, running, and digging in the sand. Gotta love it when you can go outside in the summer and actually enjoy it instead of melting.

Kaylynn wanted a picture with me on a bench at the playground.

Justin of course had to have one too!

Hanna wanted a picture by herself. She had to step on every rock, tree stump and water cover. I think she likes having her own personal size "stages" to perform on.

Justin made me put this picture on. He stole the camera and took about 15 pictures. If you look in my sunglasses you can see me trying to reach for the camera.

We love Pinetop! The mountains and fresh air are the best cure for a long Arizona summer!
